Excellent value in an outstanding location. You will have neighbors sleeping with you, and it is in the heart of the city so bring earplugs. Bathrooms are clean, water is hot, coffee is free. There is a lounge and a kitchen for patrons to use. Triple security access so you will feel safe there, staffed 24hrs. Attached to Malone鈥檚 Sports Bar, so food and drink are easily accessible. Everyone was polite, and met many travelers and traded stories and laughs-it is the epitomy of the hostel experience.

I recently stayed at Cambie Hostel Seymour for two days while attending my U.S. visa appointment, and it was a great experience. The hostel has a welcoming atmosphere, clean rooms, and a convenient location that makes it easy to get around the city. A special thanks to Fernand, the receptionist, who was extremely friendly, professional, and helpful from the moment I arrived. He made check-in smooth, answered all my questions, and ensured I felt comfortable during my stay. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for an affordable, comfortable, and friendly place to stay in Vancouver.

Fernando is a really nice front desk staff, the person that hired him made a great decision. He is genuinely a really nice person and cares about customer service. I was freezing in my room due to them renovating the heat and they brought me a heater, made sure I was comfortable. All around, him and olya are the best.

Title: A Freezing, Vibrating Rodent Sanctuary (Do Not Stay Here) If you鈥檝e ever wondered what it鈥檚 like to live inside a bass speaker during an Arctic blast while being judged by a mouse, The Cambie - Seymour is the destination for you. We arrived Sathurday, exhausted and ready for a bed. We didn鈥檛 actually achieve sleep again until Sunday at 3:00 AM. Here is the breakdown of our "stay": The Rodent Roommates: Let鈥檚 start with the stars of the show: the mice. They were scurrying around like they paid more rent than we did. At one point, I wasn't sure if the scratching was the 19th-century plumbing or a mouse trying to share my "rug-blanket." The "Vibrating" Floor: I expected city noise. I did not expect my internal organs to vibrate in sync with the bass from the bar downstairs. On Saturday night, the floor wasn鈥檛 just carrying sound; it was a physical participant in the party. If you鈥檙e going to run a bar under a hostel, invest in some insulation鈥攐r at least hand out earplugs and sedatives at check-in. The Survivalist Bedding: Calling these "beds" is a stretch. They were so punishingly hard we had to perform emergency surgery on the room, shoving the daybed mattress under our sheets just to avoid permanent spinal realignment. The linens didn't smell "fresh" on Day 1, so by Day 7, the "bouquet" was truly something to behold. The Hairdryer Heater: Our heater was a decorative wall ornament. The room was so sub-zero that I spent my nights using a hairdryer to blow hot air under the sheets just to keep my toes from falling off. The Bathroom Divide: The women鈥檚 bathroom was fine, but the men鈥檚 room was a sensory nightmare鈥攕ticky floors and a bleach smell so aggressive it felt like a crime scene was being actively covered up. The "Whispering" Staff: One gentleman at the front desk clearly hated his life and our presence. He spoke in a soft, melancholic whisper that was impossible to hear over the roar of the bar. It was like trying to get travel advice from a ghost in a nightclub. He didn't smile once鈥擨 assume because he knew about the mice. Bottom Line: I know it鈥檚 a budget hostel. I know you "get what you pay for." But what I paid for was a room, and what I got was a freezing, vibrating, sleep-deprivation chamber with uninvited furry guests. Avoid this place unless you are deaf, own a thermal bodysuit, and have no nerve endings in your back.
