Location is everything! Minutes walk from Lake Louise makes this an awesome location. Especially considering it's next to impossible to park at Lake Louise unless you get there like super early (I saw it look full at 6am!). Staff was super nice and accommodating. Room was very clean, which is really what matters the most. It was quaint and charming. Some complain it's small but you have to set expectations considering location and price. We could sit on the balcony and see the mountain view. My family loved our stay. Breakfast buffet was standard items but seem good quality. Thick bacon slices, actual individual fried eggs, etc. Most importantly breakfast was convenient. For those intending to visit Moraine Lake, absolutely book the Parks Canada ones in advance as soon as you get the room. They sell out fast and it's a sight you don't want to miss. Other private bus options exist but at significantly more so if you are last minute, that may be your only hope. Don't do the public bus Roam option, that absolutely requires you take the first 8x bus from Banff. While I read elsewhere they may let you on if you are staying at Deer Lodge, it's not guaranteed. Thanks so much Deer Lodge & Staff!

We had a wonderful stay in a heritage room, which had everything we wanted with a lovely balcony and view. Bed was so wide and comfy, the shower was great and it was perfectly clean with toiletries refreshed everyday. Location is excellent with plenty of free parking, a short stroll to lake Louise where you can also get the Parks Canada bus to Moraine (you need to show hotel confirmation at the hut). Breakfast was nice however the staff were slow replacing items especially coffee when it run out and you had to wait a while for them to bring new ones out. Cons: The only thing missing from our room was a fridge but we kept drinks out on the balcony. Waited about an hour for cases to be taken to our room and we had to go down to reception twice to check their whereabouts! Take your own upstairs! Hot tub wasn't working but was informed in advance. The price was high but most the hotels in the area are expensive!

We would stay here again. I was leaning more towards 3 stars and my partner leans more towards 4 stars. We didn't have time to check out the hot tub unfortunately but the restaurant and lounge are great. We got the Gourmet Getaway package and while the price initially seems high, the food vouchers covered an obscene amount of very high quality food so I think that was where the value really shines. We knew it was an older hotel so the lack of TV and thermostat were not a huge surprise and we were there to be outside anyways. The bed was soft and the toiletries were great. I found the building to be very interesting and the ceilings are high considering the age. I took a nasty spill on the front steps, some grip tape would do well here. I think even though the older rooms have been repainted, they either need to be completely re-done or painted properly with more artwork and in-room amenities. The boxes filled with decorations in the hallway were a bit of an ambience killer and some more parking lot signage would be helpful. Overall like I mentioned we would stay again.

Location is fantastic with it only being a 5 minute walk to Lake Louise. Rooms are a bit on the dated side but more than satisfactory. Our room was on the 3rd floor had a balcony with a view of the mountains. There is no elevator so you do have to haul luggage up steps. There is a road that runs right next to the hotel but the creek running along the road drowns out the car noise well. One of the best things about the resort was the outdoor hot tub with a great view of the mountains. Breakfast buffet that came with the room was average. An added plus- If your looking to visit Moraine Lake, you can catch the shuttle that leaves from Lake Louise and not have to worry about parking.
