I don’t leave one-star reviews lightly, but unfortunately this stay ended on a disappointing note. We booked a full week at this hotel for a family getaway. There were some positives. The breakfast attendant was absolutely wonderful and a few of the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I truly intended to leave a positive review despite some earlier issues. However, there were multiple service concerns during our stay. On our first night, we discovered blood stains on our duvet cover, which clearly should have been replaced prior to our arrival. We requested housekeeping the next day. When we returned, a new comforter had simply been placed on the bed and fresh towels left on the sink. The room itself had not been cleaned. On another morning, housekeeping arrived while we were getting ready to leave for museums. We asked if they could return shortly. They initially said that was fine, but another staff member later told us it had to be done immediately or not at all. We opted to leave and requested clean towels instead. This was frustrating, especially since staff were still cleaning other rooms on our floor when we departed. The final issue occurred at the pool. We were asked to leave because we were wearing clean water shoes in the pool. There are no posted rules stating water shoes are prohibited. We have never encountered this rule at other hotels. We wear them simply for foot protection. What made this more frustrating is that on another evening there were more than the posted five-person limit in the hot tub and that rule was not enforced. My daughter and I both live with Marfan syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that affects our bone structure and joints, including our feet. Wearing clean water shoes in the pool and on the pool deck helps provide stability and support, reduces strain, and helps prevent pain while swimming and walking on wet surfaces. This was not a matter of preference, but one of physical comfort and support. The staff member’s approach felt unnecessarily confrontational and unwelcoming. The pool hours are posted as closing at 10 PM, and this occurred shortly after 9 PM. The interaction left a very poor impression and overshadowed the positive parts of our stay. Overall, the cleanliness inconsistencies, incomplete housekeeping service, and the handling of the pool situation were disappointing. I share this in hopes that management addresses these concerns moving forward.

10/10 service and experience here! The staff was lovely, we called ahead to let them know it was our sons birthday and they went out of their way to make him feel special. The staff signed a card and left it in our room for him and he loved it. We were so close to the Canadian Tire Centre, but there is no option to walk. Luckily, Microtel offers a shuttle service to and from the arena. (for a cost, but a much shorter wait than an uber!) Overall we we were very impressed with the hotel. The cleanliness was also noticed and appreciated. This location's staff was some of the kindest customer service individuals we have met while travelling. Well done Microtel! Shout out to everyone who was working February 26th/27th! You are a stellar team.

I had a wonderful stay, From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, making me feel very welcome. The facilities were spotless, with cleanliness evident in every corner. The pool was a delight, perfect for relaxing. As for the gym, I would have liked it to be more complete, with more availability of water and disposable items. I also wished the breakfast had a bit more variety. Additionally, I had some issues with forgotten items, but thankfully Shrutika helped me resolve everything smoothly. Overall, the experience was excellent, and I highly recommend it.

We stayed at Microtel in Ottawa starting Wednesday for a short trip, and overall we had a very pleasant experience. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, which made our stay easy and relaxing. I would especially like to thank two wonderful staff members at the front desk. Shrutika was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful — she truly made us feel comfortable and taken care of from the moment we arrived. Her positive attitude and professionalism made a big difference. We also met Nutan at the reception, who surprised us with freshly made, delicious sweets and kindly offered them to us. It was such a thoughtful and warm gesture that really stood out and made our stay feel extra special. Thank you to the team for the great hospitality. We truly appreciated the friendly service and would happily recommend this hotel to others.
